Coronavirus in Iran: 3-Digit Daily Death Toll Registered for First Time in New Year
Rokna:The daily death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran soared to above 100 on Friday, returning to a three-digit number for the first time in the new year that began on March 21.
The Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said at a press conference on Friday that 117 coronavirus patients have died across the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 62,876.
Sima Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,908,900 following the detection of 11,660 new cases since yesterday, adding that 1,330 new cases have been admitted to the hospital.
Nearly 1,634,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,005 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 130 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.83 million.
