Senior Iranian Diplomat in Oman for Strategic Consultation Meeting
Rokna: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi travelled to Oman for a meeting of the joint committee of strategic consultations.
Araqchi arrived in Muscat on Monday morning to take part in the 7th meeting of Iran-Oman Committee of Strategic Consultations.
The ranking Iranian diplomat held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi later on Monday.
In the meeting, Araqchi highlighted the importance of constant interaction between the two countries, saying the decision to convene a session of the Strategic Consultations Committee at the current juncture is highly significant.
He also pointed to Oman’s major place in Iran’s foreign policy agenda, hailing the sultanate for its balanced role and stances on regional and international developments.
For his part, the Omani minister highlighted the capacities available in the two Muslim countries, calling for the promotion of economic and trade cooperation with Iran.
Busaidi also stressed the need for talks on regional issues, and expressed hope that the new international conditions would allow for an understanding among regional states.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister has visited Oman after a three-day trip to Afghanistan.
