Cuba Backs Iran’s Right to Use Nuclear Energy
Rokna: President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed support for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to enjoy nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
In a videoconference with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday, the president of Cuba reaffirmed his country’s opposition to the US sanctions against the Iranian nation.
He also emphasized that Iran is entitled to employ peaceful nuclear energy.
For his part, Zarif lauded Cuba’s support for Iran in UN General Assembly meetings.
The Cuban president and the Iranian foreign minister further highlighted the good political relations between the two countries.
Pointing to the ample opportunities for the expansion of economic cooperation between Tehran and Havana, they expressed the two countries’ readiness to collaborate in developing a vaccine for the coronavirus.
Zarif and Diaz-Canel also weighed plans for cooperation between the two nations in the energy and oil industries.
The senior Iranian diplomat visited Venezuela before traveling to Cuba. He is scheduled to visit Bolivia afterwards.
