Republicans, Democrats Concede Failure of US Policies on Iran: Spokesman
Rokna: Both political parties in the US admit that Washington’s policies towards Iran have ended in failure, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.
In remarks at a press conference on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh reiterated that Iran does not care about the US presidential election results.
It does not matter who would win the US presidential election tomorrow as Tehran would consider the US government’s policies, be it Republican or Democrat, he added.
“What is important is that both (US) parties have come to the conclusion that their policies towards us have failed,” Khatibzadeh stressed.
The spokesman also emphasized that the US government must make up for the damages caused by its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and resume honoring its commitments before being regarded as a JCPOA member.
“We would observe the US’ measures rather than the election results,” he noted.
Tehran has announced repeatedly that it is not interested in meddling in the elections of other countries, nor does it benefit from the election of any US president, the spokesman underlined.
In July, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said no matter who wins the 2020 presidential election in the US, the next American administration must compensate the Islamic Republic for the losses that its predecessor has inflicted on the Iranian people.
“It is not important for us who will win the upcoming election in the US, but it is important for us to see Washington rectify its approach towards Tehran,” Zarif said.
