Iran welcomes ceasefire between warring sides in Libya
rokna: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman welcomed the ceasefire declared between the parties involved in the crisis in Libya appreciating the pivotal role played by the United Nations and the Libyan negotiating parties to this end.
Saeed Khatibzadeh also stressed that the crisis in Libya must be resolved through a political settlement, ROKNA reported.
He further expressed hope that the ceasefire would be sustainable and that all sides would abide by their commitments and cut off foreign interference in the process of negotiating parties' agreements in Libya.
Khatibzadeh also reiterated Iran's opposition to a military solution and called for a political settlement for the country’s crisis.
Delegations from the warring parties in Libya reached an agreement on a comprehensive ceasefire at the Geneva talks last Friday.
