UK Expands Sanctions on Iran Following Snapback Implementation
Rokna Political Desk: The British government has announced the addition of 71 new designations under its Iran nuclear sanctions regulations, following the reactivation of United Nations sanctions against Tehran through the snapback mechanism.

According to Rokna, the updated blacklist includes nine individuals and 62 entities, among them Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum and Ministry of Energy.
The decision comes after the reimposition of UN sanctions and resolutions against Iran on September 28, measures that had previously been lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement. The snapback mechanism, established within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was activated at the request of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
In a statement, London said the expansion of its sanctions list aligns with international efforts to hold Iran accountable for its nuclear activities. The newly reinstated measures cover restrictions already mandated by the United Nations, in addition to national actions by the UK.
Iran has condemned the move, describing the snapback activation and subsequent sanctions as illegal. Tehran stressed that it will defend its rights firmly against what it called Western attempts to undermine its sovereignty.
