Devastated family pay tribute to 'beautiful' 20-year-old after her sudden death

Tributes have been paid to a "beautiful" and much-loved woman who died suddenly last week.

Heartbroken friends and family of Leonie Baigan, 20, have promised to create a "legacy" in her honour and to campaign for more mental health awareness in the wake of the tragedy.

After news of her death last week, loved ones and locals across her city of Edinburgh sent heartfelt tributes, and launched a fundraising page, Edinburgh Live reports.

Well-wishers have helped raise £5,000 in just a few days and the money has been put towards Leonie's funeral costs as well as "setting up a legacy in her name to help others with their mental health."

An update on the page said: “Thank you all so much for taking time out to show your love and being so kind.

“In 24 hours, over £5000 has been raised so far and seeing all the £5, £10 and £20s come in from so many friends was touching to see and an example of how many lives this remarkable young lady touched.

“Mental health still attaches a stigma to it even now but mental health is real and normal and if we work together and raise awareness to help others, we will reach a better, healthier place.

“Leonie’s family advised today that funeral costs are now covered so all funds raised will go to setting up a legacy in her name to help others suffering from mental health.

“Thank you again, please continue to raise awareness and reach out.”

Devastated friends and family have already paid tribute to her via social media.

One relative said: “My darling cousin. I have no words to say, I am speechless, distraught, heartbroken and in pure shock of your departure of this world.

“But I know the angels up there will be looking after you and you have become one of them, showing them how to party and how to have a good time.

“Leonie, you are and always will be an inspiration to everyone you know and I thank you for all our happy memories together.

“You have taught us how to love, care and help others and I can’t thank you enough. You are my forever best friend.

“I know you will be looking after all of us, fly high my beautiful. I love you more than words can say.”

A friend added: “Shine bright beautiful girl. We will love you forever. RIP Leonie.”

A second pal wrote: “The saddest news, sweetest angel ever. Hug everyone tighter and be kinder. Life is too short.”Follow the Official Rokna NEWS Telegram Channel For More and fresh NEWS.
