Gifted teenage boy, 16, 'killed by his own dad in murder-suicide at family home'

A gifted teenage athlete is believed to have been stabbed to death by his own dad in a murder-suicide two days before Christmas.

Police have launched a murder investigation after Tony Thomas, 16, and his dad Seweryn, 40, died at their home in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, on Wednesday (December 23).

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

The tragic young man was set to study law next year and was described by the Glasgow Kayak Club Sprint and Marathon Team as a "trailblazer".

He died the day after mum Eve's birthday, reports the Daily Record.

Paramedics were called to the family home shortly after 4pm but the two patients could not be saved, with police looking to speak to anyone in connection with the double tragedy.

Detectives confirmed that following post mortems they have launched a murder investigation.

A police source told the Record: “It would appear that Tony’s father killed him then took his own life. It is really heartbreaking and tragic and nobody knows what it was all about.

“There was no indication prior to this of any problem.

“The mum, Eve, had just celebrated her birthday the day before and for her to lose her son days before Christmas is especially heartbreaking.”

Seweryn is believed to have run his own joinery business.

Originally from Poland, it understood he had lived in Glasgow with Eve and their son for more than a decade.

Tony was superfit and a leading member of his local kayak club.

A statement from Glasgow Kayak Club Sprint and Marathon Team said: “Thank you for being a part of the GKC family. You were the first member, the big brother, the trailblazer.

“While we’re no longer fortunate enough to paddle next to you, the memories you have given us will stay with us forever.

“What is sadness today will be pride tomorrow, as we smile and remember our friend Tony.”

A friend said: “What a positive impact Tony had upon so many lives.”

Another wrote: “What a positive impact Tony had upon so many lives as he developed from a boy to a young man.

“Gentle in nature, motivated, smiling and always a great ambassador for Scottish Sprint paddling.”

Another member of the club said: “What a lovely young lad, sending love to Eve and all affected by this terrible loss. Rest in peace, Tony.”

A police spokesman said: “A 16-year-old male youth and 40-year-old man were found dead within a house in Grainger Road, Bishopbriggs.

“Post mortems have taken place and police have launched a murder investigation.”Follow the Official Rokna NEWS Telegram Channel For More and fresh NEWS.
