The truck was left completely incinerated by the blaze but amazingly no one was injured. Eye-witnesses described the intense heat and horrible smell of burning chemicals.
Others said they could hear noise from the explosion up to seven miles away.
Footage shared on social media showed people getting very close to the fire ball to have a closer look.
The blaze completely filled the road and sent vast plumes of smoke into the air.
More than 20 firefighters managed to extinguish the fire but a specialist clean-up operation was still on-going late last night and the road needs to be resurfaced because of the damage .
